This 6-day itinerary for the Marangu route on Kilimanjaro is designed for those seeking a shorter climb, often referred to as the "Coca-Cola" route. It's known for its hut accommodations, but it's also a steeper route with less time for acclimatization, so a good level of fitness is recommended.



Day 1: Arrival in Kilimanjaro & Transfer to Hotel

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).
Meet your transfer and transfer to your pre-booked hotel in Moshi.
Enjoy a welcome briefing with your mountain guide, who will review the climb details, equipment check, and answer any questions.
Overnight at the hotel. (Meal plan: Bed & Breakfast)

Day 2: Marangu Gate (1,860m) to Mandara Hut (2,700m)

After breakfast, transfer to Marangu Gate, the starting point of the climb. Complete park registration formalities.
Begin your trek through the lush rainforest, gradually ascending to Mandara Hut.
Enjoy lunch on the trail.
Mandara Hut offers basic but comfortable accommodation in shared huts.
Dinner and overnight at Mandara Hut. (Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

Day 3: Mandara Hut (2,700m) to Horombo Hut (3,720m)

After breakfast, continue trekking through the changing landscape, transitioning from rainforest to heather and moorland.
The trail offers beautiful views of the surrounding area.

Arrive at Horombo Hut, a larger hut complex with stunning views.

Day 4: Horombo Hut (3,720m) Acclimatization Day

* This is a crucial acclimatization day. A short hike to a higher altitude (e.g., Zebra Rocks) and back down is recommended to help your body adjust.
Enjoy the stunning views and relax at Horombo Hut.

Dinner and overnight at Horombo Hut. (Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

Day 5: Horombo Hut (3,720m) to Kibo Hut (4,700m)

* After breakfast, begin the trek towards Kibo Hut, the final camp before the summit attempt.
The terrain becomes more barren and rocky as you ascend.
Lunch on the trail.
Arrive at Kibo Hut, a basic hut at the foot of the Kibo cone.
Rest and prepare for the summit climb.
Dinner at the hut. (Meal plan: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner)

Day 6: Kibo Hut (4,700m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) and Descent to Horombo Hut (3,720m)

An early start (around midnight) for the summit attempt.
The climb is challenging, traversing scree slopes and rocky terrain.
Reach Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa, and witness a breathtaking sunrise (weather permitting).
Descend to Kibo Hut for a short rest and then continue down to Horombo Hut for overnight. This is a long day!

Day 7: Horombo Hut (3,720m) to Marangu Gate (1,860m) and Transfer to Hotel

After breakfast, descend through the rainforest back to Marangu Gate.
Receive your summit certificates.
Meet your transfer and return to your hotel in Moshi.
Celebrate your achievement!
Overnight at the hotel. (Meal plan: Breakfast)
